St. Luke's Preschool:
St. Luke’s Preschool is a ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. At St. Luke’s we believe in the inherent goodness and dignity of all people. At St. Luke’s Preschool children are loved and nurtured in a community of caring adults who provide developmentally appropriate opportunities for them to grow as human beings and as learners. We also seek to be a community of caring parents, teachers, clergy and others who will support one another in raising children. While St. Luke’s is grounded in the Episcopal Church, families of all faith backgrounds are welcome.
Preschool Mission:
At St. Luke’s Preschool our mission is to provide a high quality early childhood education in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that will well prepare your child for kindergarten and later learning. We foster joy for learning while respecting each child's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth and development

Our Curriculum
St. Luke's Preschool began using the Core Knowledge Preschool sequence in 1999 and all teachers have been trained in the curriculum. It is a developmentally appropriate, content rich, carefully designed program with high expectations for all children. The curriculum meets and exceeds all Colorado and National preschool standards assuring that your child will leave our program well prepared for kindergarten. For more information on the curriculum, please visit their website at www.coreknowledge.org. We would also love to discuss the curriculum in more detail.
An important component of our program is related to character building. Through a Christian environment, positive role modeling, and active teaching, the teachers will guide the children to learn what it means to be a "good friend", have good manners, how to care for living things, to persevere, and to be a good helper.

The Role of our Families
Parents know their children better than anyone and play a vital role in their children's development. One of the hallmark's of St. Luke's Preschool is open communication between parents and teachers, as well as parent involvement in the school. Under current COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines, adults other than teachers are not allowed inside the St. Luke's Building to keep everyone as safe as possible. When Public Health Guidelines allow for it, parents will be welcome in the classrooms and are encouraged to volunteer in our school. Parent teacher conferences will be offered twice during this school year either virtually or in-person depending on the level of COVID-19 in our community.

Our Staff
All of our classes are staffed by a team of experienced early childhood educators with an average tenure of more than ten years. Having more than one qualified teacher in the classroom has many advantages. Your child has the security of knowing that each of his/her teachers will be the adults in the classroom every day. It allows us to take a collaborative approach to observing, guiding and assessing each child's progress. Teachers are interacting with the children continuously which allows us to make decisions about when and how to respond to meet both individual and group needs. The classroom environment is carefully arranged to encourage your child's natural curiosity and support his/her growth and development. Our teacher/child ratios are no more than 1:6 in our primary classes and no more than 1:8 in our pre-kindergarten classes.
All staff members regularly attend trainings to enhance their teaching skills and keep abreast of current research in the field of early childhood education. Each teacher in the classroom is background checked and certified in CPR and first-aid.

Meet Our Director:
Lia Comfort - Director/Teacher
I have my degree in Early Childhood Education and am Director Qualified in the State of Colorado. I joined the staff at St. Luke's Preschool in 2011 and am so honored to be a part of St. Luke's Preschool. I am so excited to be back in the classroom and look forward to each and every child that enters our program.
I was born and raised in Fort Collins along with my older brother and can't imagine leaving this beautiful state. I recently became a aunt to the most adorable twins, they quickly stole my heart and I am so in love with them. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, crafting, shopping, being with friends & family, and baking. I am a new home owner, and I have really been enjoying doing upgrades and making my house a home. Please give me a call if you would like mor information about our program. 970-420-6474
